Marlys J. Raycraft, JD
Managing Director, ShareholderMarlys came to Matter in 2022, bringing a multi-family office background and deep experience working with complex, multigenerational clients. After gaining her Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a pre-law emphasis from the University of Colorado Boulder, she went on to become a Juris Doctor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Marlys began her career as an estate planning attorney, and she is passionate about helping people see estate planning as a critical part of their broader financial strategy. She enjoys working with Matter families to understand and refine their estate plans, so they can seize opportunities, manage their risk, and leave lasting legacies.
She is also interested in tax planning, philanthropic planning, fiduciary management, family education and organizational development. Her broad expertise, extreme level of organization, and attention to detail help Matter families feel confident that they can focus on what’s important to them and leave the financial management to Matter.
A Colorado native, Marlys is committed to giving back to her community. She is particularly focused on education, which she believes is the bridge to equal opportunity, and she has served as a mentor for Minds Matter of Denver. She is board president of the Denver Estate Planning Council, a member of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council, and a member of the Colorado Bar Association. She also attends a small ultra-high-net-worth advisory study group, helping her stay informed on the latest planning trends and providing her a professional support system across all aspects of wealth management.
Marlys has a hard time sitting still. When she isn’t in the office, you’ll likely find her in the mountains skiing, paddleboarding, hiking, cycling or walking her three fur babies, Jake, Penny and Sydney. She loves adventure and particularly enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures with her husband. She is also a proud new mom to a baby boy.
