Courtney Pullen
Chief Learning Officer, AdvisorCourtney has worked with Matter as a consultant for more than a decade, serving as a thought partner, facilitator, and resource for our learning families. During this time, he was also a strategic advisor for our firm, helping us to develop Matter’s industry-leading family culture and legacy offering. In 2021, Matter entered into a new agreement with Courtney, and he now serves as Chief Learning Officer exclusively for Matter families.
Courtney’s longtime involvement with Matter, extensive background in wealth psychology, and training as a psychotherapist and business consultant make him uniquely equipped to fill this role. He enjoys working with Matter families to help identify what matters to them by facilitating family meetings and retreats, guiding them through their succession and estate planning goals, and serving as a coach for family members at every stage of their wealth journey. Courtney also sits on Matter’s family culture and legacy committee and collaborates with our team to continue strengthening and evolving this critical area of our work.
Courtney has a masters in counseling psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and is a graduate and certified coach of the Newfield Network. He is a member of the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) faculty at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a faculty member of the Sudden Money Institute, and has been a speaker at many regional and national financial conferences. Courtney has also written articles and books on family wealth management, including Intentional Wealth: How Families Build Legacies of Stewardship and Financial Health.
Not surprisingly, Courtney is a lifelong learner in his personal life, as well. He is an avid reader, has a meditation practice, and is committed to investing in his own continued education, personal development, and growth. When he needs to recharge, Courtney enjoys getting outside in Colorado’s mountain air and riding his bike, hiking, or skiing. He also cherishes time spent with his family.
